Albert Paul (Sonny or OD) O’Danovich was born at St. Catherine’s Hospital in East Chicago, Indiana on January 12, 1942 to Albert and Eunice (Leonard) O’Danovich.
Albert met his Creator on Friday, May 13, 2022, in Dyer, Indiana at the age of 80, after a brief battle with cancer.
Albert was a lifelong resident of both (The harbor) East Chicago & Hammond, Indiana. He became a semi-pro baseball player in his youth and a diehard Chicago White Sox fan. Recently, Albert offered his time to the Gate Church of Hammond, Indiana and the Inner Mission food pantry and soup kitchen of Hammond, Indiana.
He is survived by his four children; Paul & (Shannyn) O’Danovich of Schererville, Indiana, John O’Danovich of Hammond, Indiana, Dawn & (Matt) Smeltzer of Florence, Kentucky, and Mark & (Lauren) O’Danovich of Orland Park, Illinois. Albert had eleven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Albert was preceded in death by his grandson Michael John O’Danovich in 1996.
A Memorial Visitation will be held Saturday, May 28, 2022 from 5:00pm – 7:00pm at the Gate Church; 5670 Sohl Avenue, Hammond, IN 46320. Memorial Service to be officiated by Pastor Scott Wells. (Church office number (219) 933-7013).
