Michael Allen Christensen Sr., age 52, died at home surrounded by family on November 14th, 2021 in Gary, Indiana. He was born on July 2nd, 1969 in East Chicago, Indiana to parents Robert and Pamela Christensen. Michael married his high school sweetheart, Loretta(Lori) Christensen, on May 15th, 1989 and had 4 children. He joined the Army on May 16th, 1989 and served his country in the 814th Engineer company where he spent time in Germany. He was an employee of United Steel Workers Union 1010 and was a crane operator at Cleveland Cliffs/Arcelor Mittal in East Chicago where he loved to mess around and play jokes on his coworkers. Michael took pride in helping people especially when it came to car repairs. If he had a family member in need, no matter of distance, he would do whatever he could to help.
Michael is survived by his wife, Loretta Christensen (Fouts) of 32 years; his children Ashley (Perry Jr.) Hedge, Michael (Melanie) Christensen Jr., Amber Christensen, Autumn Christensen (Jeffery Murawski); his grandchildren Kaylee and Perry Hedge III, Ryan, Remington, and Charlie Christensen; His siblings Julia Sikora (Greg Fingerle), Robert (Michele) Christensen, Jeanine Estes, Theresa (Francisco) Encinas and many other family, friends and loved ones. He is preceded in death by his mother Pamela Christensen of Gary, Indiana.
A Memorial service will be held on November 20th at New Creation Ministry 9738 5th Street, Highland, Indiana 46322. Friends and loved ones are invited to join the family from 3pm-5pm with a service to follow. In lieu of flowers, monetary donations can be made to the immediate family.
