James “Mike” Davis of Hebron, Indiana suddenly passed away on November 14, 2021, at 66 years young. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Diane Davis. His Sons Michael Davis, James (Allison) Davis and daughter Wendy Marie Davis: as well as his 6 grandchildren which he adored, Madison, Milayna, Christopher, Autumn, Lily, and Nina Marie.  As well as one brother, George Davis.

Mike is preceded in death by father, James Robert, his brothers Samuel and Jeffery and his sister, Patty.

Mike “Papa” was known to his grandchildren as the strongest and smartest man they ever known. His grandchildren were his world.  As the grandchildren came, he always had a hand in helping raise them. As babies he would never put them down, he would light up holding them. Even until the end, he never let them see his weak side. When his granddaughter came to see him, he’d make sure she couldn’t see his IVS, so she didn’t worry. He always appeared fine even when he wasn’t.

Mike was the best damn papa there ever was.  He’d make sure his youngest granddaughter, Milayna was happy, especially when they would ride the tractor around the yard.  They both would laugh so hard and smile while they were going in circles.  He always told the corniest jokes, but they were what made him, Papa. Each one of his grandkids have specific memories of all the things that made him so special, and they will never be forgotten.  He impacted each grandchild differently and he will forever be missed.

We will also never forget his McDonalds runs for his diet cokes.  It did not matter, rain, sleet, or snow he would find one open just to get his diet coke.

Mike loved flipping carts in builder square, arguing, and preaching the bible. He had a strong faith in God and Christ.  We take comfort in knowing Mike “Papa” is home with his Lord and Savior.

He will be 29 and holding for eternity.

A Memorial visitation in Mike’s honor will be held Friday, December 10, 2021 at Southlake Fundamental Baptist Church, 125 N. Court St., Crown Point, IN 46307, at 10:00 am, with a 12:00 p.m. funeral service to follow. Pastor Mark Promnitz, officiating.

“Oh, set me up with the spirit in the sky
That’s where I’m gonna go when I die
When I die, and they lay me to rest
I’m gonna go to the place that’s the best”
