Kenneth R. Zandstra, 71, passed away August 3, 2022. Survived by his spouse, Marge Zandstra of Lafayette, IN.

Ken was quite the track star in his day, winning multiple ribbons and honors, as a team competitor in the 1972 Olympics. In 1974, Ken was posed with quite the decision – join the Chicago Bears, and join them at their training camp, or marry his sweetheart. He clearly made a great decision, as him and Marge spent 46 years married to one another.

Ken was not only a great athlete, but quite the businessman as well. Graduating in 1972 from Indiana University, Bloomington, his degrees in Philosophy and Logic further headed him toward the law profession. Unfortunately, his Father who owned Zandstra Fruit Co., passed from illness, leaving Ken to run the family business throughout Lake and Porter counties and the Chicagoland area. He later started and owned a sales and creative marketing company called The Ad Vantage, which published numerous print media including The Bride’s Guide Magazine, which became his registered trademark. He won numerous achievement awards for his trade shows and publications. He also served as President of the Highland Kiwanis Club, and Lieutenant Governor for the Calumet Region, respectively.

Ken had multiple customers who praised his knowledge in organic gardening at Farmer’s markets throughout Lake & Porter counties.
