Laurence Tachik Sr. (May 4, 1958 – April 3, 2021)
Laurence Tachik Sr.,62 of portage, IN. passed away on 4-3-21. Larry is survived by his children;Jennifer (Tony) Cavazos, Larry (Krystal) Tachik Jr. and his grandchildren; Lily, Lincoln, Lylah and Lillian. His brothers Jerome (Susan) Jr.,Gary and sister Shari Clifford. As well as many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Jerome Sr. and Jackie. His brother Terrence and grandson Luciano. Larry worked in construction and roofing. He was also in the army reserves. Larry loved the outdoors and was also an avid Cubs and Bears fan.
Jody Lee Bane-Mustafa (December 28, 1978 – March 28, 2021)
Jody Lee Bane-Mustafa, 42, of Portage, IN passed away unexpectedly on March 28, 2021. She is survived by her loving husband of 1 1/2 years; Michael Mustafa. The inseperable pair had been together for 7 years, and wed on October 19, 2019. Jody is also survived by her father: Terry Bane, mother: Jean (Bob) Baptiste, sister: Shannon (Jeremy) Wauchek, the nieces who she adored: Mercedes Garcia, Alexandra Flores, and Mariah Flores, and her beloved cats and dogs who had a special place in her heart. William Doffin (November 27, 1951 – March 22, 2021)
William Gerard Doffin, 69, passed away unexpectedly on March 22, 2021 at Broadway Methodist Hospital in Merrillville, Indiana. William was born in Gary, Indiana to Ralph and Alice Doffin in 1951, persevering despite dire circumstances at birth. He was known as Bill to his family and friends. Bill is survived by his wife, Karen; children, Jason (Julia) Doffin and Julie (Daniel) Bowen; and grandchildren, Emma Bowen and Liam & Zander Doffin. Bill graduated Lake Central High School in 1970. Michael Smolik Sr. (July 11, 1951 – March 17, 2021)
Michael Smolik Sr., 69, passed away on Wednesday, March 17, 2021. He was a resident of Lowell for 24 years, and formerly from Illinois. Michael is survived by his loving wife of 43 years; Cathrine Smolik, his beloved children; Dodi (Dennis) Wians, Elizabeth Jablonski, Michael (Melody) Smolik Jr., and his adored grandchildren; Derek, Tyler, Brooke, Maddison, Trevor, Morgan, Mia and Mason. Michael proudly served our country in the United States Marine Corp, where he was trained to do underwater demolition in Vietnam. He will be remembered as a wonderful husband,
