Penny "GG"( Schroeder)  Carter passed away on January 11,2021, surrounded by her somewhat dysfunctional family. Penny was born on November 9, 1946 in Michigan City, Indiana. She was the fourth of nine children. In 1966, while working as a secretary at the Indiana State Prison, she met her future husband. Don't worry, he was a guard, not a prisoner. Olive Irene Bales (nee Broomhead), 98, passed away January 8, 2021 surrounded by her  family. She was born on December 31, 1922 in Lansing IL to the late Joseph and Lillian (Drunecke) Broomhead. She married Raymond Bales and together they raised 2 children. She was a homemaker and an excellent cook. In her spare time, she enjoyed bowling and playing cards with her husband, friends and family. She also enjoyed drawing, dancing to big band music and gardening with her neighbor, Dot. Sandra Lee (Werth) Woods, age 68, of Cedar Lake, IN passed away early in the morning on January 1st, 2021. She was a beloved wife of Thomas W. Woods for a wonderful 51 years. Loving mother of Thomas Jr. (Dawn), Michael  (Lisa) and Jason (Jenny). Sandy was the proudest grandmother of Mikey (fiance Demi), Alyssa, Ashley, Owen and Nate. Lewis P. Bates, 62, of Hobart, IN formerly of Burnham, IL passed away on December 30, 2020. He is survived by his daughter: Keli (Patrick) Bosstel, Grandchildren: Nya Bosstel, and Patrick Bosstel, Great granddaughter: Elena Bosstel, Siblings: Leonard (Linda) Bates, Louann (Chuck) Kocher, Lori Bates and several nieces and nephews. Donna Kathleen Barton, Age 61, died on December 22, 2020, as a result of complications of colon cancer. She was preceded in death by her parents, Will and Kay Barton, sister Rita and brother Richard. Donna is survived by sisters Nancy Franczyk, Joanne Kelty, and Susan Coman.  She was aunt to nieces Kate Kelty, Lisa Barnholdt, and Sarah Barton and nephews Tim Kelty and Chris Franczyk.  She also left behind her bird Comiskey who has been recently adopted.
