Jody Lee Bane-Mustafa, 42, of Portage, IN passed away unexpectedly on March 28, 2021.

She is survived by her loving husband of 1 1/2 years; Michael Mustafa. The inseperable pair had been together for 7 years, and wed on October 19, 2019.

Jody is also survived by her father: Terry Bane, mother: Jean (Bob) Baptiste, sister: Shannon (Jeremy) Wauchek, the nieces who she adored: Mercedes Garcia, Alexandra Flores, and Mariah Flores, and her beloved cats and dogs who had a special place in her heart.

Preceded in death by her dear cousin, Stevie.

Jody had a true love for reading, often collecting books by her favorite authors. She enjoyed board games, and collecting memorabilia from her favorite tv shows. She was particularly fond of her most recently acquired stock of ‘The Walking Dead’ figurines. Jody loved coffee, and often made a special trip for her favorites from Starbucks. Her love of traveling went further than a coffee run; as she once held a job which allowed her the privilege of seeing many special places in the US, her absolute favorite being New Orleans. Her travels were, of course, well documented by the large collection of refrigerator magnets she’d acquired over the years. Jody will be remembered for her passion for adventure and enjoying life.

A public visitation will be held at Southlake Fundamental Baptist Church, 125 N. Court St., Crown Point, IN on Friday, April 9, 2021 at 3:00 pm, with a memorial service to follow promptly at 4:00 pm.
