Richard Alan Williams – “Rick”

September 20, 1955 – December 25, 2021

Age 66 of Valparaiso, IN, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2021. Born September 20, 1955 in Chicago, Rick was the son of Donald and Josephine (nee Tworzydlo) Williams. He was raised and educated in Chicago. After high school, Rick served his country in the US Army. He was proud of his military service and proud to be a veteran.

Rick worked for the City of Chicago – Streets and Sanitation for over 25 years until retiring. Upon retirement, Rick enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren – Veronica and RJ, who lovingly called him Papa Shark; taking care of his furry children – his dogs, Walter and Lexi; his cat, Miss Kitty; and, riding his tractor taking care of the many acres he lived on with his fiancée, Vivian. Rick was generous, kind and empathetic to those in need, being family, friends or someone he just met. He enjoyed talking to anyone and his wit brought laughter to all those he knew. His sense of humor was the greatest gifts he shared with those he loved. His children, Sarah, Amanda and Jake were his pride and joy. Rick was an amazing father, brother and friend who will be missed greatly by those whose lives he touched.

He is survived by his loving fiancée of 14 years, Vivian Ruiz-Howard; cherished and loving father to Sarah (Richard) Louzon; Amanda Williams; and Jacob Williams; devoted grandfather to Veronica and Richard (RJ) Louzon; caring and amazing brother to Donna (Colin) Hill; Sharon (John) Spellman and Christine Williams; proud uncle to Lauren Hill, Stephan and Kevin Spellman; and, also loved by Keili (Steven) Pearce and their son, Lonnie Christopher Pearce; his aunt, Sister Mary Theophilia and his cousins, Theresa (Robert) Charal and Mary Almquist.

Rick is preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Josephine; his sister, Camille White and nephew Tristan Hill.

Per Rick’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. A celebration of life will be planned in the future.
