On Monday, January 3rd, 2022, Rick Lomeli, loving husband and father passed away at St. Anthony Franciscan in Crown Point, IN with his family by his side. He was 68.
Rick was born on July 9th, 1953 to Simon and Amparo (Chapa) Lomeli. He was a proud graduate of Hammond High School in 1971, and later went on to attend Calumet College of St. Joseph in Whiting, IN. He then embarked on a long a career in sales, starting with Westinghouse Electric. On November 15th, 1975, Rick married the love of his life, Susan Ann Peeler. They raised one child, their son Eric.
Rick had a tremendous passion for sports, where he followed and rooted for almost all Chicago teams. However, there was no team that meant more to him than his beloved Chicago White Sox. He never missed a game. His love for baseball ran deep, and he shared that love through coaching, as he coached his son and other young children for several years. He was an avid golfer, and his Sundays were usually spent at Pheasant Valley Country Club with many of his friends. Rick also had an incredible passion for music. While he loved many artists, he enjoyed nothing more than summer nights listening to his favorite, Frank Sinatra.
He is survived by his wife Susan, his son Eric, his brother Eddie (Martha) Lomeli, sister Mary (John) Petrusyk, sister Linda Tavassoli, sister Rosemary Shilander, and many wonderful nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his father, Simon, and his mother, Amparo.
Rick will be forever missed by those who loved him so dearly.
