Dorisann McNeill went home to our Lord and Savior at the age of 75 on January 3, 2023 from
complications involving a brain aneurysm. She was surrounded by her loving family and
husband. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Richard and Alice Patton
(Reitler) and her brother Kirk Patton. She is survived by her step–mother, Adelma Patton, sister
Kymber Roossien (Mike), brother Ric Patton, and step–brother Jason Patton.
Dorisann Patton was born in New Kensington, Pennsylvania on May 23, 1947 to Richard and
Alice Patton. She experienced an adventurous childhood spending time in Pennsylvania, Ohio,
and even in Quebec, Canada where she learned to speak French in which she enjoyed speaking
to her grandchildren at various family gatherings.
Dorisann was a graduate of Lowell High School in 1965 and then married the love of her life,
Bruce McNeill, of 57 years. She was a proud resident of Hebron, Indiana for over 58 years.
Dorisann was an active member at the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Hebron, Indiana where she
was given the nickname, “Church Grandma.” She volunteered weekly at Cedar Creek Senior
Living Community in Lowell, where she spread the gospel of Jesus Christ by reading from the
Bible. Dorisann was known for her skilled gardening and was even awarded an “Advanced
Master Gardener” certificate from Purdue University in 2003. Being involved in the community
and volunteering with youth led her to serve as the secretary of the Lake County Fair. Other
notable accolades of our loving Dorisann include: being a member of the Farm Bureau
Women’s Association, serving as the transportation secretary for the Lowell School
Corporation.
Anyone who knew Grandma, Mema, Mona, Meatball, Church Grandma knew she prioritized in
order; God, family, and friends above herself. Dorisann was a loving and devoted mother of six
children: Tim McNeill (Kris), Stephanie McCracken (Rob), Amy Jusevitch (Chris), Joe McNeill
(Amanda), Jeff McNeill (Sabrina), and Jesse McNeill (April). Her love and commitment to her 23
grandchildren and 19 great–grandchildren was known throughout the entire community with
her diligent attendance to sporting events, school activities, and family parties. The entire
family will remember her fantastic “Woohoos” from the bleachers and the energetic “Happy
Birthday” voicemails. Although she will be greatly missed by her family and community, her
love for the Lord and family will be commemorated and serve as the reigning example for the
entire family.
There will be a Celebration of Life for Dorisann McNeill at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Hebron, Indiana.
