Christopher J. Schneider, 72, passed away on 2/12/24 after a long illness. Beloved husband of Joanne Murphy for 32 years.

Survived by his brother Paul Schneider (Rose) of Tucson, AZ and sister Nancy Cahill of Darien, IL; many cousins, nieces & nephews. Loving son of Joseph and Eleanor.

As a young man, Chris served in the Illinois Air National Guard; graduated in Accounting from Univ of Illinois; and worked at the Chicago Board of Options Exchange for 28 years. Chris was a much loved husband, brother, son, uncle, cousin & friend. His compassion and sense of humor touched many lives. A genuinely kind, funny, sweet man with a big heart who was respected & loved by all. Always generous with his time, love & support to those who needed a hand or a sympathetic ear. He had a lifelong love for the open road and a curiosity for new ideas and people; always choosing the journey over the destination. He enjoyed many of life’s simple pleasures, such as time with family, travel, the White Sox, his 2 dogs and spending time outdoors. He found great peace in nature & seized every opportunity to hike, jog, camp and play tennis. He was very proud to have completed the Chicago Marathon on his first try.

Chris bravely fought health challenges over the years and accepted them with unimaginable grace and strength. He will be greatly missed by all.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 638 N. Calumet Rd., Chesterton, IN on Friday, March 8, 2024 at 10am. Family will receive guests at a pre-mass reception at the church starting at 9:00am. Following the funeral mass there is a luncheon in St. Patrick’s Trinity Banquet Hall.
