Elijah James Bartscher

Elijah James Bartscher of Hanna, Indiana went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, May 16th, 2026.
Elijah was born to Richard and Brenda Sue (Gentry) Bartscher on Thursday, December 21st, 2000.
Elijah graduated from Hononegah High School on Saturday, May 25th, 2019, at the BMO Harris Bank Center in Rockford.
He was the first person in his immediate family to graduate from high school due to him promising his mother in her last days that he would do so.
After high school Elijah became an appliance technician repairing and installing them for numerous companies.
Elijah accepted the Lord as his Savior on June 7th, 2025, at 8:32 pm with his brother Zachary.
From that moment on Elijah’s focus became his relationship with Jesus and spending time with family and friends.
In March of this year (2026), Elijah was hospitalized and diagnosed with stage 4 cancer.
He spent close to 3 months in the hospital fighting with strength and grace that only comes from the Lord, Jesus Christ.
2 Timothy 4:6-8 KJV
(6) “For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. (7) I have
fought a good fight, I have finished my course , I have kept the faith, (8) henceforth there is
laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me
at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.”
Elijah is survived by his father Richard (Kandace) Bartscher, Eldest brother Zachary (Adrian Bartscher), Youngest brother Mathias (Samantha) Bartscher, Grandpa Tom Bartscher, Grandpa Jim Gentry and numerous loving family members and friends.
Elijah was preceded in death by his Great Grandpa Jack Bressler, Uncle Rob Gentry, Mother Brenda Sue (Gentry) Bartscher,Great Grandma Marjorie (Barton) Bressler,
Grandma Peggy (Johnson) Bartscher and Grandma Linda (Bressler) Gentry.
He is and will be greatly missed by all.
