Douglas Wayne Gossett, known as “Snake Bite”, of Hammond, IN passed away on February 2, 2020. He was born on May 4, 1940 to Hershel and Dorothy Gossett, both of whom preceded him in death, as well as his sisters, June Ragland and Marilyn Gossett. He is survived by his brother Ronnie Gossett. He was a proud Army veteran. Douglas married Carolyn Jane Gossett (nee Rayburn), who preceded him in death. From that union, they had two children:  Jeff Gossett, who preceded him in death, and Gary (Vicky) Gossett, Grandchildren: Chrissy Womack, Jeff Gossett, Joseph Gossett, Kevin McDermott, Lindsy McDermott, and Zachery Gossettt and Great-Grandchild Teà Chura. Douglas worked at the Ford Motor Company Chicago Assembly Plant for 33 years. He is married to Donna Prince, and from that union, they have three children: Vernetta Abrams-Clemons (Jefferson Clemons), Kimberly Abrams, and Christopher Donaldson, seven Grandchildren: Jefferson Clemons III, Sophia Clemons, Kiana Donaldson, Miracle Powell, Samson Clemons, Anaya Donaldson and Liam Isiah Donaldson.

A memorial service in Douglas’ honor will be held at UAW Local 551 Hall, 13550 S. Torrence Ave., Chicago, IL on Friday, February 14, 2020 at 2:00 pm.
