With deepest sorrow, we announce the unexpected passing of Brian “Andy” Dickerson, age 16, on January 19, 2026.
An adored son, brother, and grandson.
Andy is survived by his loving, devoted family; his parents, Drew and Shari Dickerson, sister Leann (Nick) McDonough, grandparents Dottie (the late Herb) Dickerson, the late Cindy West, Sharon
(Mike) Yung, and Malinda (Tim) Goss, in addition to numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Andy had many friends and had a special bond with his best friends Noah, Colbey, and Calogeno.
Andy was born and raised in Bridgeview, Illinois where he attended Bridgeview elementary school. The family relocated to their current home in Lowell, Indiana.
Andy was a fun-loving teen who lived his life filled with curiosity, enthusiasm, and passion. From a young age, he was known for his incredible intelligence—especially in math—where his sharp mind and natural talent stood out. He was an avid reader who found adventure and belonging in stories, especially the Percy Jackson series and Japanese manga. Andy was a devoted collector and true gamer at heart, proudly building an impressive collection of video games and consoles. His favorite characters reflected his playful and thoughtful spirit: Steve from Minecraft, the entire Mario universe, Sonic the Hedgehog, Sans from Undertale, and countless Roblox adventures shared with friends. His love for anime ran deep, including Dragon Ball Z, My Hero Academia, One Piece, Pokémon—with Snorlax holding a special place—and Jujutsu Kaisen, where Satoru Gojo was his favorite character. Fittingly, his gamer tag was Saturnus, a nod to his fascination with space and the planets. He was an avid Chicago sports fan and especially loved attending Chicago Fire soccer games. Athletics were also part of his own journey—he played tee ball, soccer, gymnastics, wrestled, and proudly took on the role of nose tackle in football, playing for the Manteno Wildcats, where his strength and determination shone. At home, Andy found joy in the simple, cozy things. He loved swinging on the backyard swing, playing with Beyblades and fidget spinners, taking long baths, and carrying the family cat, Gege, upside down—much to everyone’s amusement. His favorite colors were blue and black, reflecting both his calm nature and quiet edge. Some of his earliest treasures included a beloved Beanie Baby collection, especially a blue baby boy Beanie Baby that had been part of his diaper cake and remained his favorite who he named Han-burger. His other cherished stuffed companion was Sparky the Dog. His love for the movie Cars ran so deep that he named his dog Hudson McQueen, a name that perfectly captured his playful spirit. Food brought him joy, too—cheeseburgers and French fries, Kit Kats and M&M’s, chocolate milkshakes, and bubblegum were among his favorites. Some of his happiest times were spent visiting his grandad, Herb, in St. Louis, where he loved eating ice cream, riding the four-wheeler with his sister, and swimming in grandad’s pool—moments filled with laughter and sunshine that will be forever treasured.
Above all, Andy was deeply loved. His gentle heart, sharp mind, and unique spirit touched everyone who knew him. Though his time here was far too short, the impact he made will live on through the memories, laughter, and love he leaves behind.
He will be missed beyond words and remembered always.
