Catherine (Kathie) Lynn Wolters (Nee Sutherland)

Catherine (Kathie) Wolters passed away peacefully on April 18, 2024, surrounded by her family and loved ones at her home in Portage, Indiana (formerly of Hammond, Indiana).
She was born February 29, 1956 in East Chicago, Indiana to Robert Sutherland and Lucille Emerson Sutherland.
Kathie was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law and friend to all who knew her.
Survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Charles Robert (Bob) Wolters of Portage, Indiana (formerly of Hammond, Indiana), children, Jason (Santana Strahm) Wolters of San Diego, CA; Jennifer (Kevin) Smith of Valparaiso, IN; Justin (Lara Bodnar) Wolters of Griffith, IN, and Jordan (Nichole Dimmig) Wolters of Lucerne, IN, grandchildren, Dakota; Breanna; Dallas; Madison; Ceinna; Lillian; Jasper; Logan; Trenton; Maddux; Josephine; Gryffin; Adasandra; Ayrabella; Alizabeth; Averlee; Amelia, and Alicyn, sister, Carolyn (Frank) Fortino of Lowell, IN, and many nieces, nephews, in-laws and others that hold Kathie near and dear to their hearts.
Kathie had a deep love for animals, especially her dogs over the years – Brandy, Whiskey, Cherie and Shelby. She had a love for creative activities, arts and crafts, cooking and nature. But she was happiest when she was surrounded by family and friends.
Kathie is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Lucille Sutherland and sister, Sandra Lee Elliott, all of Hammond, IN.
Services to honor Kathie will be held May 24, 2024 at Saint Paul’s Catholic Church, 1855 Harrison Blvd., Valparaiso, IN. All are welcome to attend.
Funeral Mass will begin promptly at 11:00 am, followed by a Celebration of Life ceremony in the church’s Social Hall from 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, monetary donations can be made to St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Valparaiso, IN.
