It is with a heavy heart that I share the news of Cornelio S. Chavez’s passing on November 26, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his loving wife and daughters.

Born on September 16, 1942, in Monte Alto, TX, Cornelio was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He proudly served as a Millwright at Bethlehem/Mital Steel for 38 years before retiring.

Cornelio leaves behind his beloved wife, Barbara J. (Mashburn) Pace, whom he married on August 3, 2001. He is also survived by his cherished daughters, Barbra Chavez Zeisig, Cailee Chavez Karmari Williams-Chavez, Karilee Williams-Chavez, and Dayle Pace, as well as his adored grandchildren, Leland, Evangeline, Hendrix Zeisig, Rilee Linn Jackson, and Landon Jackson. He is further survived by his brothers Anacelto Jr. (Lupe) Chavez, Jose Chavez, and sister Elena (Rigo) Reyes. Cornelio was preceded in death by his parents, son Anthony Chavez, and several siblings.

A man with a heart of gold, Cornelio took immense pride in his family. He was a lifelong fan of the Cubs and Bears, and found joy in fishing, golfing, traveling, and a cold Coors Lite.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Cremation arrangements entrusted to Crown Cremation. Per Tony’s wishes, there will be no services.
