Danny J. Sons Sr., a longtime resident of Hobart, Indiana, and most recently of Hebron, Indiana, passed away on February 17, 2025, at the age of 61. Born on August 28, 1963, in Gary, Indiana, Danny was a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend to many.

Danny is survived by his loving mother, Norma Sons (Skomp); his children, Joshua Sons (Heather), Brittany Sons, and Chad Valentine; and the mother of his children and the love of his life, Jerilyn Sons. He was a proud grandfather to Dareian Hill and Braylen Sons and a cherished great-grandfather to Onica and Adilynn.

Danny is also survived by his siblings: Tommy Sons, Peggy (George) Glotzbach, Diane (John) Evanovich, and Linda (Eric) Nahod, as well as many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Danny J. Sons Jr. “D.J.”, his father, Hurshel R. Sons, and his siblings Jonnie R. Sons, Kirk A. Sons, David Sons, Ronnie L. Sons, and Betty A. Sons, along with his niece Felicia Sons.

Affectionately known as “Bobo,” Danny had a larger-than-life personality and a heart full of love for his family and friends. A carpenter by trade, he took great pride in his work and enjoyed working alongside his dad and brothers over the years. He was also known for his legendary forklift skills, proudly holding the award for the fastest one-handed forklift driver—a title that only he could claim with confidence and a great story to go along with it.

Danny was an avid Yahtzee player, traveling to tournaments and proudly proclaiming himself the World Champion Yahtzee Player—a title he awarded himself as part of his legendary storytelling. He loved fishing, spending time with loved ones, and sharing stories that always kept people entertained.

Danny was a die-hard fan of Jimmy Johnson in NASCAR, the Chicago White Sox, and the Indianapolis Colts, always cheering on his favorite teams with enthusiasm.

Danny’s presence, laughter, and unforgettable stories will be deeply missed, but the memories he leaves behind will be cherished forever.
