Donald L. Shaykin passed away peacefully with his wife Carol and son Steven by his side having lived a long fulfilling life of 87 years.
Don was born in Chicago, IL to Dr. Maurice and Della Shaykin. Don was the proud owner of Shapiro Shoes in Palos Heights, IL and then went on to be a successful, award winning clothing representative for several women’s clothing lines. Don most recently worked for the Autism Spectrum Disorder Foundation (ASDF).
Don enjoyed life, traveling, gardening, motorcycling, puzzles, scrabble, playing cards and reading. Don cherished the time he spent with family, friends, fraternity brothers and book clubs.
Most of all, Don loved and cherished his wife Carol and enjoyed being by her side and the life they created together.
Don is survived by his wife Carol, sister Suzy Zell (Jerry), and his 3 children from his previous marriage to Betty Shaykin (Shapiro); Steven M. Shaykin (Rose), Scott S. Shaykin (Polly), and Sandra Berman (Michael). Beloved Grandfather to Steven A. Shaykin (Katie), Giovanna, Christian (Keeley), Maxine (Grace), Brian, Kyle and Ariana. Beloved Great Grandfather to Emerson, Reagan and Steven P., and close cousins too numerous to name.
