MARCO ANTONIO MORENO REYES
1935 – 2022
Marco Moreno passed away Friday, May 27th, with his daughter Beth by his side. Mr. Moreno was born in Mexico City, Mexico on October 30th, 1935. His parents were Dr. Manuel Moreno Barrera and Maria Luisa Reyes. Marco was preceded in death by his two brothers, Manuel Moreno and Miguel Moreno, along with his nephew Manuel Moreno Hassey and sister in law, Amparo Moreno Hassey. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Susan Sykes Moreno, and his two daughters Beth Moreno and Mandy Moreno (Dr. Martin Choquette), and his two granddaughters, Vivianne and Clara. Marco is also survived by his sister, Aurora Contreras and her two children Ana Elia and Manuel. Also a niece, Luisa Gabi Redding, and nephews Gustavo Moreno, and Alfredo Moreno.
Marco also had many other honorary, bonus family members, including bonus daughter, Cris Petro, her husband Robert and their three children, Natalie, Paul and John, his other bonus daughter, Lucy Malone Clark and her two children Austin and Alyse, and his sister in law, Sally Barclay and his two nephews, William Robaus(Laura) and Robert Robaus (Troy), along with their children Stephanie, Alissa, Jessica and Ryan. He will be missed by all.
Marco received his Bachelor’s Degree from Northwestern University. He worked as National Service Manager and Accountant for American Photocopy Equipment Company (Apeco) for 22 years and was the Chief Financial Officer of a major transportation company for 26 years. Marco served in the U.S. Army Reserves and in the Mexican Army. He was a Senior Member of Youche Country Club, Crown Point, Rotary Club of Tinley Park, IL, a member of Notre Dame’s Sorin Society, and a PEO “Brother in Law.”
Always a fan of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Marco had season tickets to ND football for 40 years, enjoying countless hours with family close ND friends, Dave, Elaine and Seth Sizemore, Ted and Theresa Zakowski and the entire Zakowski Clan.
Marco was a member of St. Matthias Catholic Church, Crown Point, IN, and was formerly a Deacon at First Presbyterian Church of Crown Point, IN. A mass of remembrance will be said for Marco at St. Matthias Church on Friday, July 22, 2022 at 10 am. Internment at Notre Dame will be private.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations can be given to First Presbyterian Church of Crown Point, St. Matthias Church of Crown Point or Wabash Center for Disability.
