Terrill G. Alyea

April 16, 1944 – September 15, 2023

Terry Alyea, age 79 of Sauk Village, IL passed away unexpectedly but peacefully of natural causes Friday, September 15, 2023. Preceded in death by his wife Diane (Broholm). He is survived by his brother Richard Alyea (Kimberly) and sister Loretta (Bonnie)Taylor; his 2 daughters Terri Alyea & Christy Alyea. Best Papa in the world to Elijah, Avery, Blaine & Isabella (a.k.a. Dinkyboops)

He was born on April 16, 1944 in Hammond, Indiana to the late Russell B. and Anne M. (LaGrange) Alyea.

Our dad was a man of many talents. He worked on cars his whole life and proudly would declare what old cars he had owned at any given time. In order to have more space to work on his cars and his semi-truck he built his own garage. He would spend countless hours in his garage tinkering.

His grandkids were his life! From trips to the pickle man, swimming in the pool, to makeshift swings in his garage. He was happiest when he was with them.

You could often find him at car shows or fishing in a random pond. In his final days he may have slowed down, but he never stopped. Nothing could keep him from going out and having fun. From breakfast with longtime friends to watching new friends play a music gig at a local bar.

He would regularly fly to Florida to spend time with his daughter & granddaughter. He would take a spin on his scooter with his Bluetooth speaker blasting his favorite doowop tunes. We would go up to the pool to work on our tans and take a dip to cool off in the hot Florida sun! And of course, we found many car shows to go to!

Our dad leaves behind so many friends, I don’t think that there was one person that he met that he didn’t leave an impression on. If he couldn’t get out to see his friends, he would sit and call every last one of them.  He was always willing to lend a helping hand no matter what and in his later years those acts of kindness and generosity were returned.

He was preceded in death by his 2 sisters Janet Manka & Barbara Gillies and an infant brother Leslie Alyea.
