Mary Britton, 77 of Pharr, TX passed away peacefully August 8, 2021 with her family by her side
in Porter, IN.
Mary was born April 24th, 1944 in Rhinelander, Wis. to Lewis and Sally Lewis George.
On Oct. 12th, 1974 she married John Britton who preceded her in death in Nov. 2017.
Mary is survived by her children Bill (Donna) Stovic, Jon (Sarah) Britton, Vicki Britton and
Dawn Griffith. Grandchildren Ben Stovic, Chris Stovic, Nikki Fraley, Amy Murtaugh, Andrea
Miller, Kane Britton, Iden Britton, Kaeden Britton, Kieran Griffith and Brennah Griffith and 6 great
grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters Vicki Patridge, Rose Paschall and Pam (Dennis)
Gregory; many nieces, nephews and cousins also.She was preceded in death by her brother
David and both parents. Mary’s passion was her upholstery business, The Recovery Room.
Here she redid antique furniture, she upholstered many items for prominent people in the area.
There was nothing she couldn’t make look beautiful whether it was painting, sewing or stripping
to make it like new. She enjoyed time waitressing at the Oasis in Westville where she made
many friends before retiring to Texas. Mary loved sitting on her patio in Texas enjoying the
weather and was an amazing gardener. Her smile could light up a room. Family will hold a
private memorial service on Saturday, August 14, 2021. Her family wishes to thank the
Valparaiso VNA Hospice Center for the care and love they showed her and her family in her
