Matthew “Matt” Reece Thurman, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 24, 2020.
He is survived by his daughter; Aaliyah Creighton, Mother; Tracy Thurman, Grandmothers; Antoinette Thurman and Maribel Rios-Thurman, Aunts; Tina (Rob Novak) Gregory, Kim Thurman, Natalia Thurman, and Guilianna Thurman and cousins; Corynne Gregory, Ryan Gregory, Danielle Scartozzi, Victor Calvin III, and Mazie Calvin, and his beloved dog; Dozer.
Preceded in death by his Grandfather; Thomas R. Thurman.
Matt was a mechanic for Alpha Truck Repair in Portage, IN. He was a member of NWI car enthusiast’s club, and he worked hard to ensure the bass in his car was (literally) glass-breaking. He truly had a love for loud music. Matt was a funny, honest, and loving guy with a great personality. He attracted friends of all types, and loved making people laugh. He would never hesitate to help others in need. Matt could be best described as a big bearded teddy bear with a huge heart.
A memorial service in honor of Matt will be held Friday, November 6, 2020 at the Hobart VFW Hall: 540 S Indiana St, Hobart, IN from 4:00pm – 8:00pm.
