Olive Irene Bales (nee Broomhead), 98, passed away January 8, 2021 surrounded by her family. She was born on December 31, 1922 in Lansing IL to the late Joseph and Lillian (Drunecke) Broomhead.
She married Raymond Bales and together they raised 2 children. She was a homemaker and an excellent cook. In her spare time, she enjoyed bowling and playing cards with her husband, friends and family. She also enjoyed drawing, dancing to big band music and gardening with her neighbor, Dot. She was number 7 of 12 children. The family was very close and enjoyed picnics and house gatherings. Visiting and writing to her family was a favorite past time in her later years, along with watching Wheel of Fortune.
Olive is survived by her children: Lloyd Bales, Patty (Dennis) Alumbaugh, Grandchildren: Kathy (Aaron) Monroe, Joseph Kuiper, Amy (Micah Budzinski) Bales, Raymond Bales, Tiffanee (Anthony) Houser, and Jessica Koetteritz. Great grandchildren: Lindsey Chevrette, John, Grace, Andrew and Ryker Monroe, Brogan Budzinski, Lyla Houser and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Joseph and Lillian Broomhead, her husband Raymond, 6 sisters and 5 brothers and their respective spouses, 2 sister in laws, 4 brother in laws and their spouses.
There will be a celebration of life at a later date TBD.
